Learn Flat Pattern Drafting: Make Custom Leggings

Flat Pattern Drafting Custom Leggings

$175.00

-

Create a custom leggings pattern and stitch up a pair to take home during class.

Join us for this amazing class where you’ll learn to develop a personalized leggings pattern that’s completely customized to fit your body; and then use that pattern to stitch up your very own pair! **Students should have experience sewing from a pattern and sewing with stretch fabrics, as we will not be covering these skills during class.

Class 1: We’ll begin by taking proper measurements, then jump right into a discussion on flat pattern making and discussing fabric selection and what to look for when shopping for fabrics online and in-person. We’ll start drafting our custom pattern in this class.

Class 2: Wrap up any late finishes on our patterns, then cut and sew leggings.  We’ll develop additional patterns (with modifications such as kick flare leg, different waistbands, adding a pocket, etc) as time permits.

Prerequisite: This class assumes that you’ve completed our Sewing 201 course or have equivalent skills and have some experience sewing with stretch fabrics.

Skill level: 201 level class

Instructor: Sarah L

Cost: $175 course fee, includes 4 hours of instruction and a custom paper pattern that’s yours to keep.

  • Sewing machine and/or serger (instruction will be provided for both)
  • Your sewing machine/serger manual
  • thread cones (if using your serger)
  • basic sewing kit
  • Fabric: we recommend 2 yards of spandex (54″-60″ width of fabric) for class, which is an ample amount for this project and also allows for a cutting error. Students may bring additional prints/fabric/yardage in the event you have time to sew up more than one pair during class.
  • mechanical pencil
  • Roll of wide kraft paper, similar to this one.
