Come join us for this new quilting series where we will explore one building block of quilt making each month!

This month we will tackle Half Square Triangles, one of the most versatile and frequently used blocks in any quilter’s toolbox of skills. We’ll go over the various ways to make HST’s, trimming them and putting them together into blocks to make a striking throw size quilt.

Cost: $280 course fee, includes four sessions, 2 hours each (8 hours total)

Level: This is a 102 level class

Prerequisite: Quilting 101 or equivalent skills

Instructor: Darcy

What you’ll learn: HST construction methods, ways to make trimming quicker and easier, various ways to use HST in other block construction, how to make a quilt sandwich, basting, machine quilting and binding.

  • your sewing machine and basic sewing tools
  • 1/4 inch presser foot recommended
  • one layer cake (or fabric to make 36 10″ squares)
  • coordinating thread
  • “twin” sized batting (or two yards of batting if bought off the roll)
  • quilters safety pins, 100 count
  • 1/2 yard fabric for binding
  • 4 yards fabric for backing
