At Fabricate Studios we are lucky to have a handful of wonderful instructors who use their passion for sewing to enhance our mission of teaching children and adults to sew. One of those instructors is the coolest cat we know! In this Instructor Spotlight we are excited to share Keno with you!

In a little Q&A session we got Keno to open up and share a few things with us.

How do you get your start in crafting?

I took all sewing classes available at Fabricate because I had a rip in my pants and wanted to learn how to fix my own clothes.

How many years’ experience do you have?

5 Years

What is your favorite project that you’ve created?

Vintage table cloth jerseys and sleeping bag jackets

What led you to teaching?

After completing ALL sewing classes at Fabricate, I was asked to help teach some kid’s classes.

What is your favorite class to teach and why?

I like teaching the beginner students because they are a fresh slate that I can train to be just like me and then we will take over the world! (cue evil laughter) “Muhahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa!”

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?

I already have eleventy other jobs, but my main one is teaching high school English.

What do you do for fun (not that creating isn’t fun) when you aren’t teaching or working?

I play lots of video games and watch every anime show ever!

Do you have any pets?

I don’t have any pets but I have 26 plants.

Do you sell any of your handmade items? If so, what is the name of your business? What are your social handles and website links?

I do sell my items. My business is called Sew Fresh & Sew Clean but you can see my items on IG and mostly TikTok.

If you won $1 million dollars today – what would you do with it?

If I won a million dollars I’d buy a loft so I’d have somewhere to live and finish my infinite sea of unfinished projects.

Did you grow up in a creative family?

I am the most creative person in my family. Most of us are athletic. I went to college for track & field and I still love to run.
