If you find it hard to part with those precious leftover pieces after a sewing project, you’re not alone. Scraps often hold memories of past makes, favorite prints, or fabrics too pretty to toss. That’s where Quilt As You Go (QAYG) comes in—it’s the perfect technique for using up your stash while making something completely new.
QAYG is a fun and forgiving method that lets you piece and quilt at the same time. Instead of constructing a quilt top, sandwiching, and quilting later, you build your project directly onto batting—layer by layer, strip by strip. It’s an excellent way to experiment with colors and patterns without committing to a huge quilt, and it’s ideal for beginners or anyone looking for a quicker finish.
In this class, you’ll learn the basics of the QAYG technique as you create quilted panels that can be turned into a wide variety of projects such as tote bags, pillows, table runners and more. You’ll leave with a completed project (or very close to it), a new skill in your sewing toolkit, and a fresh way to give your scraps a second life.

Holiday Stocking
If you’ve never tried a Quilt As You Go (QAYG) project this is a great place to start and then you might just be hooked! These stockings look great made from scraps, strings (strips of fabrics) and can even be a great place to reuse clothing that’s sentimental or fun. We will talk about the different ways you can construct these so bring whatever fabric you’d like and get ready to sew some holiday magic!
