Join us for a rotating four-week quilting series designed to build your skills and confidence—one block at a time! Each session will focus on a specific quilt block style, ranging from beginner-friendly to intermediate techniques. We’ll guide you through fabric selection, precise cutting, block construction, and assembling your quilt top. If time allows, we’ll even help you make your quilt sandwich!

Each class will focus on skill building and specific projects, such as:

This series is perfect for anyone who wants to learn foundational quilting skills or expand their quilting toolbox. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your technique, there’s something for everyone!

Examples of what to expect throughout the classes:

  • Fabric selection, prep, and block planning
  • Block construction
  • Assembling the quilt top
  • Quilt sandwich (if time permits) and finishing touches

New classes will rotate regularly—take one, or take them all! Check out our friends at Stash Fabrics for ideas and kits to make your quilts.

The instructor will email you ahead of the class with details about supplies needed and what to expect during class.

In our Quilting: Beyond 101 series, you’ll find a variety of classes designed to build on your foundational skills while exploring new techniques and quilt block styles. Each class will focus on a specific project that helps you grow as a quilter—one stitch at a time.

English Paper Piecing 101
Looking for a great road trip project? English Paper Piecing doesn’t require a machine and can go with you anywhere.

 

 


 

Cathedral Windows
Let’s make a quilt, in this class we are tackling a treasured quilt technique: The Cathedral Window Quilt! While the typical Cathedral Window Quilt is made using hand quilting sewing techniques, we are taking it a step further with machine sewing.

 


 

Half Square Triangles
Tackle Half Square Triangles, one of the most versatile and frequently used blocks in any quilter’s toolbox of skills. We’ll go over the various ways to make HST’s, trimming them and putting them together into blocks to make a striking throw size quilt.

 


 

Improv Quilting
Let go of the rules and unleash your creativity with improv quilting! In this class, you’ll learn how to piece without patterns, trust your instincts, and play with color, shape, and scale. Perfect for all levels, improv quilting is about expression, exploration, and enjoying the unexpected.

 


 

Layer Cake Flying Geese Quilt Top

Let’s transform your fabric! In this class, we’ll walk you through the steps to create your own one block wonder quilt top. This technique takes your large scale fabrics and transforms them into swirling patterns.

 

 


 

Pickle Dish Quilt
Take on a playful twist of the classic Double Wedding Ring with the Pickle Dish quilt! In this class, you’ll learn how to piece curved seams and pointed arcs to create this bold, vintage-inspired design. Perfect for intermediate quilters ready to explore curves, color contrast, and dynamic layouts.

 


 

String Quilt
Let’s make a quilt, in this class we are tackling a scrappy quilt favorite: The String Quilt! You will learn basic paper foundation piecing techniques and knock out all the strips in your scrap bin. Make this quilt wonky or super straight to suit your style.

 


 

Triangle Quilt
Triangle quilts are one of those great basics to have in your skill took kit. Once you’ve learned how to cut and piece these quilts, you can make them any size! Join us for a two-part workshop and master cutting and piecing a triangle quilt.

 


 

Quilting Appliqué
Learn to how to appliqué! In this class, we’ll walk you through a variety of techniques to achieve your perfect appliqué. We will cover both machine and hand appliqué techniques.

 

 


 

Quilting Skills: Foundation Piecing
Learn to piece precisely! In this class, we’ll walk you through the steps to foundation paper piece a quilt block. This technique takes the guessing out of creating precise and perfect piecing.

 

 


 

Quilting Skills: Free Motion Quilting
Take your quilts to the next level. In this class you’ll learn the basics of free motion quilting. We’ll cover the basic techniques, patterns & troubleshooting. Free Motion Quilting (FMQ for short) is quilting using a domestic sewing machine (as opposed to a long arm quilt machine) to stitch a quilt sandwich without the aid of the feed dogs.

A little about Diana:
Diana is a passionate self-taught sewist who began her sewing journey as an adult. Over time, she mastered the art of creating beautiful quilts, stylish bags, and unique clothing. Her creativity shines through in her quilt designs, which are entirely her own. Diana’s true calling lies in teaching others to sew. She finds immense joy in guiding beginners and watching their skills flourish. She is dedicated to sharing her craft and inspiring others to embark on their own sewing adventures.

A little about Darcy:
Darcy has been sewing for basically her entire life, growig up with grandmothers and a mother who sewed so it’s always been a part of Darcy’s life. She worked in a fabric shop in high school and got back into sewing as an adult when her best friend couldn’t find nursery things she loved for her first baby. Darcy caught the quilting bug and has been loving it ever since!
