L-R: Theresa, Latifah, Diana

Q&A with Diana

We asked Diana a few standard questions, like how long she has been sewing and how long she’s been at Fabricate Studios, and then we jumped in with both knitting needles and asked the tough questions.

How long have you been crafting?
Crafting most of my life.

What is your craft of choice?
Sewing with a little dabble in all the other fiber arts.

How long have you been teaching at Fabricate Studios?
I’ve been with Fabricate from the start – 4.5 years!

What classes do you teach?
All of the intro sewing classes (101, 102, 201) as well as bag making, quilting and embroidery.

Behind the scenes with Diana

Diana made these lovely quilts – two very lucky people received them as gifts!

What was the first class you taught?
I’ve been teaching at Fabricate for nearly 5 years and then a few years before that at a fabric store. The first time I ever taught, the group and I made a challah cover. I was soooooo nervous.

Where would you like to max-out your credit card?
Stash Fabrics! (I think we can all agree with Diana on this one! Stash Fabrics is an online retailer, located in Cumming, GA)

What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
SNL. My cousin and I would spend most weekends together and it wasn’t complete without catching SNL on Saturday night.

Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Stitch Girl

Behind the Scenes with Diana

As any Stitch Girl would, here we have Diana modeling super cute garments she handcrafted!

What was your favorite toy as a kid?
Fisher Price tape deck. I would record movies on tape to listen to in the car.

How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?
15 years old, cute pink Fluevogs

Can you play any instruments? If so, which ones?
Nope. (Well, there goes the theory that creative people are creative / talented in all things.)

What is the oldest thing in your refrigerator?
Eeep! There’s some jars in the back that I’d rather not discuss.

What is your favorite cereal?
Life

What, if anything, have you ever re-gifted?
Does a joke count?? There’s this one about a duck…

What was your childhood nickname?
Diana Banana (Did anyone else say this out loud to yourself to see if it rhymed?)

What’s your favorite flavor of potato chips?
Salt & Pepper

Which way does your toilet paper hang on the wall – over or under?
Over, obviously. (We all KNEW we loved Diana – this is just further proof.)

What, or who, are you a “closet” fan of?
Big Brother in the UK

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
Teleportation. Seems like a handy one to have. (Handy, indeed. Where to first?)

Now that Diana has spilled the beans about some of her darkest secrets, is there anything you learned today that surprised you? Is there a question you wish we had asked her?

  • Having taken a few of Diana’s classes and joining her at BYO Craft night in the past, it was fun to read about her and learn a little bit more about the girl outside the studio. And, I like anyone who is a toilet paper over person!
