Hand Embroidery 101: Visible Hand Mending

Our textiles wear & tear naturally, learn to mend your favorite pieces by hand and with personality. We will discuss how different fibers wear out and how to best patch, weave, and reinforce them. It’s ok if you are still learning to thread a needle and sew on a button, we will talk about all of that too!

Bring your clothes that are in need of a little love and reinforcement. Don’t forget any patches or fabrics you’d like to use. We will supply sewing threads, needles, scissors, and any mending tools needed during class.

Skill Level: Beginner

Skills You’ll Learn: Hand Sewing, sewing on a button properly, adding a patch, Boro style mending, darning stitches

Cost: $140 course fee, includes 2 classes (2 hours each) for a total of 4 hours of instruction

Students should bring textiles to mend. This can be clothing or household items, patches, and any threads they would like to use.
