Sewing 201: Sewing with Commercial Patterns

Sewing 201 Sewing with Commcial Patterns is designed for those ready to take their skills to the next level and tackle commercial sewing patterns. This is a great way to elevate your skills as Sarah helps your navigate reading, intrepreting, and adapting commercial sewing patterns to create professional-quality garments. From selecting the right fabric to understanding pattern symbols and adjustments, this course covers everything you need to bring your sewing projects to life with precision and creativity.

We focus on sewing (and fitting!) a commercial pattern. We’ll cover the basics and then we’ll work through fitting this garment to your body measurements. In this 4-week class we will work with one of the patterns shown in the class listing images. Select your favorite and come prepared to learn! We can’t wait to help you unlock your full potential and take a standard commercial pattern and make it your own.

Cost: $375 course fee, includes 10 hours of instruction, paper pattern and some supplies.

Prerequisite: This class assumes that you’ve completed our Sewing 102 course or have equivalent skills

Skills Learned: how to read a pattern, terminology, symbols, taking proper body measurements, pattern layout, cutting, fitting and adjustments.
