Horizon Day Dress {beginner}
Darcy will be teaching you how to sew her favorite dress – the Horizon Day Dress – the perfect beginner dress pattern! Cool and comfy you will want to make this dress again and again. This casual dress is fun and relaxed perfect for wearing around the house, to the grocery store, and everywhere in between. You can adjust the pattern to make the skirt the length that works best for you. And…it has pockets!

Summer Dress Workshop
Master the art of sewing with our summer dress workshop. Unlock your creativity this season with our hands-on sewing class designed for beginners! Our Summer Dress workshop is perfect for anyone eager to dive into the world of fashion design. Whether you’re a complete novice or looking to refresh your skills, this class offers step-by-step guidance by our skilled instructor, Sarah, to help you create a stunning, custom-made summer dress. In this project based class we will start and finish sewing a lovely summer dress from the McCall’s M7950 pattern.

- Class One: We will review your paper pattern, determine fit and cut out your summer dress pattern and fabric.
- Class Two: The fun begins…time to start sewing. We will assemble your bodice, sew your side seam pockets, and gather
- Class Three: We will learn how to make button holes, sew on buttons and hem your dress.
Wiksten Shift Dress
In this class we will take what you have learned in Sewing 101/102 and apply those skills to clothing. We will be loosely following a pattern in order to familiarize you on sewing with patterns.
The class starts by reviewing your measurements and adjusting the pattern to suit your body. Most of the class will be spent sewing your dress together. We will be learning finishing techniques necessary for sewing clothing. Your clothing goes through a lot of wear and tear as well as washing. We will teach you how to create a garment that looks like it came right from the store and last countless wears.

Wrap Dress Workshop
Test your sewing skills with knitwear, and dressmaking. In this 3 session class we will be making a stylish wrap dress. The wrap dress has become iconic thanks to the remarkable Diane von Furstenberg who introduced it in the late 60s early 70s. It has seen a few iterations over the years, including the faux wrap, but Sarah will take you back in time to the original beauty and its timelessness.
*Taught by Sarah
- Class One: We will start with reviewing your pattern to select the correct size. We will learn how to make minor adjustment to your pattern if needed. We will use the rest of the class to cut out your fabric and apply your interfacing.
- Class Two: We will start class sewing our darts, then begin to assemble our dress.
- Class Three: We will attach your skirt to your bodice, sew facings to the body and hem your dress.
A little about Darcy:
Darcy has been sewing for basically her entire life, growig up with grandmothers and a mother who sewed so it’s always been a part of Darcy’s life. She worked in a fabric shop in high school and got back into sewing as an adult when her best friend couldn’t find nursery things she loved for her first baby. Darcy caught the quilting bug and has been loving it ever since!
A little about Sarah:
Sarah has a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from Western Michigan University. When not teaching at Fabricate Studios or traveling, you can find Sarah at her studio Revive Threads Co. where she loves creating sustainable clothing by upcycling amazing treasures and vintage fabrics. All of the clothing at Revive Threads is made from 90%-100% recycled materials.
Before launching Revive Threads Co. Sarah worked full-time in the industry using her skills in professional pattern making, technical pattern drafting, draping, and bringing paper to life at an apparel company in the metro Atlanta area. Sarah has over 8 years of hands-on experience that she willingly shares with the students at Fabricate Studios.
