Beginner Sewing Class: Sewing 101 is a 4-part series designed specifically for beginners; we help you learn to sew from step 1 โ you can even bring your machine still in the box!

Sewing 101 Class Details:
Class 1: We jump right in, teaching you how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin and use the stitch selector. Youโll even make a napkin with mitered corners to take home at the end of your very first class.
Class 2: Youโll learn to sew a reversible tote bag. But youโll learn so much more about fabric, print directional, picking a lining vs your exterior fabric, installing handles, top stitching and more.
Class 3: Weโre making a roll-up organizer. This clever project is perfect for storing your sewing tools, make-up brushes, crayons or colored pencils, toiletries and more. Weโll be reinforcing the material you learned in the first two classes, honing in on your sewing accuracy, learning to use bias tape, adding pockets and more.
Class 4: Graduation night is a big one; youโll make a piped zippered pillow! Youโll use all of the skills from classes 1-3 and then youโll learn to install a zipper using your zipper foot, sewing down cording and more.
Weโve taught hundreds of people just like you how to sew โ not just sewing that one project in class, but really LEARNING how to sew, so youโll be able to make projects at home on your own. Our seasoned instructors that have the knowledge and patience to set you on the right path.
Prerequisite: None
Skills Youโll Learn: all the basics of your machine (you can even bring it still in the box!), backtacking, corners, curves, zippers, trim, linings, bindings, installing handles, hand stitching and finishing.

Cost: $375 if you bring your own sewing machine, $400 if you rent ours. Note: rental machines remain at the studio. If you love sewing as much as we do by the end of your fourth class, we can help make recommendations for a machine that is perfect for the projects you want to create. Class includes 10 hours of instruction.

A little about Diana:
Diana is a passionate self-taught sewist who began her sewing journey as an adult. Over time, she mastered the art of creating beautiful quilts, stylish bags, and unique clothing. Her creativity shines through in her quilt designs, which are entirely her own. Dianaโs true calling lies in teaching others to sew. She finds immense joy in guiding beginners and watching their skills flourish. She is dedicated to sharing her craft and inspiring others to embark on their own sewing adventures.
A little about Darcy:
Darcy has been sewing for basically her entire life, growig up with grandmothers and a mother who sewed so itโs always been a part of Darcyโs life. She worked in a fabric shop in high school and got back into sewing as an adult when her best friend couldnโt find nursery things she loved for her first baby. Darcy caught the quilting bug and has been loving it ever since! Sewing 101 is Darcyโs favorite class to teach because watching people go from scared to turn their machine on to actually sewing in four weeks is MAGICAL!
A little about Sarah:
Sarah has a bachelorโs degree in Fashion Design from Western Michigan University. When not teaching at Fabricate Studios or traveling, you can find Sarah at her studio Revive Threads Co. where she loves creating sustainable clothing by upcycling amazing treasures and vintage fabrics. All of the clothing at Revive Threads is made from 90%-100% recycled materials.
Before launching Revive Threads Co. Sarah worked full-time in the industry using her skills in professional pattern making, technical pattern drafting, draping, and bringing paper to life at an apparel company in the metro Atlanta area. Sarah has over 8 years of hands-on experience that she willingly shares with the students at Fabricate Studios.

โI just finished the sewing 101 class with Diana and cannot say enough good things about the studio, class, or teacher! The studio has plenty of cutting space and materials for working with your fabric and is set-up in such a way as to make your set/up super easy.
In Sewing 101, we got familiar with our individual machines and comfortable working with them. Diana was a pro at walking us through these processes while providing helpful tips and tricks. Most importantly, she made it all accessible and met each student exactly where we were. Some of these tips solved consistent challenges Iโd been facing when sewing at home and helped make my time sewing both easier and more joyful!
The projects were thoughtfully ordered in such a way as to build upon skills learned in the previous class and resulted in great items to keep or gives as gifts to family or friends.
