Meet the Makers Behind the Magic

Catt is a self-taught seamstress and puppet maker from North Carolina. She started sewing back in 2022, and has been working on building a small business for selling her work ever since. Catt specializes in cosplay, which are elaborate costumes based on pop culture and worn to conventions. She does almost every step of fabrication herself – from designing the costumes, to printing the bases of her masks out of plastic, to patterning and sewing the fur to cover them. Each finished work is elaborately made by hand over dozens of hours and is often supplemented with electronics such as fans, light displays, or even electronic voice modulators! Catt is passionate about sharing her skills with others to help them create their own costumes, as well as giving back to the community that gave her her start.Â
Catt teaches: Cosplay (class listings coming soon) + Private Lessons

Thalia has been sewing professionally since about 2010, but very unprofessionally for many years before that. She got a BFA in Fashion Design with a concentration in Costume Design from American Intercontinental University in 2009, which led her to design small stage shows for Aurora Theatre. After deciding against that career path she began working for an ice skating costume designer, sewing miles and miles of lycra and mesh! After he downsized in 2022 she began working in film where she honed her alterations skills and expanded her garment building knowledge, from sketch to final showstopper. She currently has a toe in film, commercials, contract sewing, leather sewing, and last but certainly not least, teaching!
Thalia teaches: Alterations 101, Sewing 102 +Â Private Lessons

Wini has been crafting and creating since she no longer had to ask her parents for money (a very long time). Through a series of random but fortunate events, she bought a sewing machine and has never looked back. Wini took her first quilting class and found the thing her soul has longed for. It combines so many of her interests from surface pattern design and sewing. Quilting 101 is Wini’s favorite class because it never ceases to amaze her that you can cut something up and make it even more beautiful with piecing.

Diana is a passionate self-taught sewist who began her sewing journey as an adult. Over time, she mastered the art of creating beautiful quilts, stylish bags, and unique clothing. Her creativity shines through in her quilt designs, which are entirely her own. Diana’s true calling lies in teaching others to sew. She finds immense joy in guiding beginners and watching their skills flourish. She is dedicated to sharing her craft and inspiring others to embark on their own sewing adventures.
Diana teaches: Sewing 101, Sewing 102, Bagmaking, Skills Building, Quilting classes

Darcy has been sewing for basically her entire life, growig up with grandmothers and a mother who sewed so it’s always been a part of Darcy’s life. She worked in a fabric shop in high school and got back into sewing as an adult when her best friend couldn’t find nursery things she loved for her first baby. Darcy caught the quilting bug and has been loving it ever since! Sewing 101 is Darcy’s favorite class to teach because watching people go from scared to turn their machine on to actually sewing in four weeks is MAGICAL!
Darcy teaches: Sewing 101, Pouch of the Month, Quilting classes

Ashley studied fashion design in Chicago and has worked in the fashion industry for over 11 years. In addition to sewing, she loves knitting and painting watercolors. Her specialties include garment construction, pattern making, knitwear, and print design.

Denise brings a wealth of creativity and passion to Fabricate Studios. A retired bond judge and lifelong advocate for children, she now channels her energy into teaching sewing and art. Denise loves inspiring students to explore their creativity through sewing projects and repurposing materials into beautiful, functional pieces. Her unique approach combines skill-building with sustainability, encouraging makers to see the possibilities in every stitch.
Denise teaches: Kids Sewing + Summer Camp

Keno is a passionate and creative sewing instructor with over 6 years of experience. His sewing journey began with a determination to repair a belt loop on his pants, which then led to him teaching classes with us at Fabricate Studios. His expertise is mostly in up-cycling clothing. With over 13 years of teaching experience, his teaching style allows him to be patient and provide an overall enjoyable learning experience. Keno’s commitment to fostering creativity and confidence in his students allows him to maintain a fun and productive learning environment.
